This is Chinatown, Singapore in 1971.
The area will have changed beyond recognition and that is, in part, why these old slides are of such historic value. It always gives me enormous pleasure when I see a ‘sale’ for one of these old images – images which I feel I have had a part in helping to ‘rescue’. As the photographers reach the end of their life so many photos taken in the postwar years 1950s-1980s are ending up scattered and sadly often end in landfill.
