Therese’s Turnips

Therese Coffey has been urging people to help overcome the shortages and price rises of vegetables by turning to turnips. As it turns out the biggest turnip grower in UK is/was in here constituency. Mortier Farms, Alderton Suffolk, actually gave up growing turnips in September 2022.

“AW Mortier, near Alderton in Suffolk, had a near monopoly on the few turnips available in supermarkets but gave up in September last year because of stores’ unwillingness to pay higher prices to make up for rising costs of energy and fertiliser.”
