I was born and brought up in Bath not far from Chippenham. In 2014 my wife’s mother was widowed so we started to spend quite a lot more time in Wiltshire. I used the opportunity to take a lot of new pictures both in places that I knew such as Chippenham and all around Wiltshire.
Chippenham is a town that has grown enormously over the last 40 years. There are vast carparks outside the railway station for all the M4 corridor commuters, and the motorway itself is only a few miles away. Housing developments have grown all around the town.
This image of a Cotswolds type market place is perhaps the most obviously photogenic view in the town centre. As soon as I saw the sale appear I wondered if it might be for estate agency use, for example, in a marketing package for a new housing development. Now that the usage details have been posted it looks as though I was wrong ( worldwide use), but I was right that it was for commercial marketing. That explains what, these days, is a decent fee ( which I am not publishing).
