Church stained glass

This is my most recent Alamy sale from yesterday. It is a Personal Use licence of a window from 1913 designed by Edward Arthur Fellowes Prynne. Click to expand – there is a lot of detail.

Country: Worldwide
Usage: Personal use, Personal prints, cards and gifts. Non-commercial use only, not for resale.
Media: Non-commercial, one time, personal/home use
Start: 17 August 2022
Duration: In perpetuity
$ 16.80

It may be the work by this artist that interests the buyer. Or it could be the image of the Crucifixion that they will use to make a card or home print. Another possibility is that this village church has a family connection. The modest fee reflects the non-commercial restriction for this type of licence.

My interest in photographing churches is mainly personal but I have been pleased by the level of sales. One source is estate agents looking to promote new housing developments – usually this would be church exteriors in their village setting. The other major use is for textbooks and reference books about art, religion, and history.

It is pleasing when photography for personal interest finds an intersection – not always predicted – with stock image sales,
