Striding Edge, Helvellyn

As is often the case with newspaper uses the story behind this is a sad one.

The photo above was taken in early May. We walked along to the end of the Striding Edge arête – you can see where the steep scramble starts beyond the tiny colourful dots of walkers ahead of us in the photo ( light blue, red, dark blue). We turned back at that point as we found that we were just not enjoying the steepness ( living in Suffolk you know).

I really would not like being up here in foggy winter weather. As I said the image was used to illustrate a sad story. Condolences to family and friends.
