Looking at the thumbnails of images sold it is really noticeable how often transport related images crop up. I suppose it is an obviously popular subject evoking travel, economic activity, and a sense of place. Sometimes the image suggests movement through the frame and sometimes is provides the central focus of activity. Here are two examples from Alamy reported sales today. Both are about human activity but without any actual human presence seen within the image. We don’t need to actually see the people to know that humans are there in the image.
