I wonder how many photographers would simply walk past a scene such as this one. It is not exactly a great image in the sense of beauty but it shows what it shows clearly and is therefore of illustrative value. It has been licensed for worldwide educational use. My assumption is that the keywords made all the difference for this image. Also, that having a good AlamyRank, and this picture showing up on Page One for a ‘drainage ditch’ search, is a huge factor. There are other alternatives of newly excavated drainage ditches but my one shows more of the valley and the suggestion of hydrological processes and water table level.
